Northern Ceramic Society Meetings
The Northern Ceramic Society holds monthly meetings on a Saturday at differing venues
in Northern England. These meetings are free of charge to all members, and usually
feature a morning lecture and afternoon lecture or lectures by speakers on a specialist
aspect of antique or collectable ceramics. The Society’s programme of meetings runs
from February to June, and from
September to November, with winter and summer breaks.
In June or July there is also a special Summer Visit to a privately owned house
or to a specialist museum offering a chance to view a ceramic collection not normally open to the public.

Inspired by the Rhead book of the same title (published in 1906) the Seminar will

This year’s expedition will take in an exhibition at the Potteries Museum followed
by a visit to the new and innovative Wedgwood Museum. Course members are also invited
to bring two pieces for display and discussion, and there will be an opportunity
for members to present their own research by means of the Poster Boards and Members'
Papers.

- Michael Berthoud (Unsung Heroes of the Potteries)
- Nick Berthoud (Elers to Clews: Dry Bodies considered)

NB - The NCS is offering two bursaries for this event.
Each covers accommodation, meals, lectures and visits but not travel to Chester.
They are open to anyone (NCS members and others). Applications should be sent to
the Course Organiser and should state why the bursary would be of particular benefit
to the applicant and indicate his/her ceramic interests.
