Summer Visit to Oxfordshire
Private Collection Visit
We are privileged to be invited to visit an NCS member’s private collection of British ceramics.
The focus will be on Davenport wares and a range of unusual and rare marked wares from
the 18th and and early 19th century.
We have been kindly offered two sessions at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m
Additional Ashmolean Museum visit
For those choosing the afternoon session, there is an optional morning activity to view and handle pieces from the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford with special reference to Worcester porcelain.
This will be led by Rosalind Sword, author of a new book on the subject, curator,
Matthew Winterbottom, and we will be joined by the recently retired Keeper of Western Art Tim Wilson.To attend the morning in the Ashmolean, you will need to arrive by 10 a.m.
The cost of this session is additional to the fee for the private view
Lunch & Refreshments
A buffet lunch will be provided at the local village hall 1.00-2.00pm, included in the cost of £10 per person (wine will be available at extra cost), as are tea/coffee and biscuits in the morning or afternoon at our host’s home.
Pub lunches are also available;
contact the Secretary for costs if you are making your own lunch arrangements.
Private transport is required and for the optional Ashmolean Museum session it is recommended that you use the Oxford Park & Ride scheme. Details will be sent to those wishing to book places.

Numbers are limited for both sessions, but there are plenty of places available for the private collection visit.
