A study day in the ceramic collections of
The Bowes Museum.
Yes, we are off to see the amazing ceramic collections at The Bowes Museum.
If you have never been to this French Chateau in the North of England, which houses outstanding collections of
European fine and decorative art – join us for this special visit.
The day’s programme will include
- A look at the Ludlow collection of 18th century English porcelain and the core Bowes’ collection in the new galleries,
with ceramic items out of store to study in-depth and to handle.
- A lecture by Howard Coutts on the history of dining, focusing on dinner and dessert services and featuring items form the collection.
- A talk by collector Ian Newton about Charlotte Rhead; items from his collection are on show in Ceramics Room 39.
- Opportunity to see the display and exhibitions around the museum
Cost: The cost of the Summer visit is £18.00, to include Museum group entry fee, tea/coffee & biscuits morning and afternoon, room hire charges. Lunch is not included, but we have booked group catering if you would like to join in. If you are an Art Fund or Museums Association member or Friend of the Bowes Museum, there is a £7.00 reduction in the cost of the day.
Booking closes Friday 8 June 2018. Payment is by cheque (payable to Northern Ceramic Society) or cash at a forthcoming meeting. Cancellation: Fees will be returned if notice of cancellation is received before the booking deadline, but not after this date.
