Ebony Jetware

Jet ware is earthenwarewith a shiny black finish which provides a ground for a variety of decorative treatments including painting, printing and jewelling.

Ebony is the trade name for a brand of jetware that was long believed to be the product of the Dudson factory.  Recent research leads to the conclusion that it was made by E.J. Ridgway at the Bedford Works.    For details of research see A Dudson Ridgway Enigma by Tony Curnock in the Northern Ceramic Society Newsletter 194, June 2019 and Newsletter 205, December 2022.
